I was more than flattered to be asked to travel with a very special woman and her husband to California to celebrate their vow renewal. With the Buena Vista Winery as the setting for their celebration, the day couldn’t have been more beautiful!
The bride owns Paperista and I’m honored to say she helped me create my new branding. After working together over the course of a few months, a friendship sprung up and she’s supported many endeavors I’m honored to be a part of.
The bride and groom celebrated their wedding anniversary and a few other milestones, after FIVE years, the bride was told she is finally cancer free and celebrating their love with a vow renewal was a wonderful decision!
Traveling to California brought out some amazing vendors to help create a setting that was breathtaking!
The wedding took place at the Buena Vista Winery in Sonoma, California; the oldest winery in California!
Wine Country Party & Events supplied the furniture and decor which created a perfect setting for an afternoon brunch.
Nancy Liu Chin Designs created an arrangement for the seating area the utilized buds in colors of pinks, purples and whites.
Rosann Konieczny provided her amazing calligraphy skills and perfected the marriage certificate, table name cards and paper pieces.
Fleur De Lisa Cakes made the most incredible cake!

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

She’s finally here, baby Sophia!

Simply put, this fills my heart with joy.

It’s going to be an exciting year for this blessed beauty. I’ll be photographing their journey over the next year and I can’t wait to see what’s to come. Thank you for traveling afar for a beautiful, sunny portrait! See you in a few months!

I’m absolutely loving my Twins Project! Meeting these two young boys was a pleasure and made me feel the miracle not only of Twins, but also within interactions of people.
Full of energy and life, they didn’t stop the entire time they visited me, which is probably my favorite thing in photographing children. To be that full of energy right now, I long for the days when I could “play” all day and still have energy to head off to a friends house for a birthday party.
Born minutes apart, these two brothers will live a life knowing they have each other’s back.
Side note, what photoshoot isn’t complete without a little breakdancing!
Thanks to this tremendously loving family for stopping by the studio and participating in my photographic essay on the world of Twins!

Probably one of my greatest thanks goes to this beautiful woman, Maribeth Romslo of www.redribbonstudio.com. She’s been a shining and beautiful light for myself over the years. I’m constantly encouraged by her sense of friendship, overall self and consistent nature. I was more than flattered to photograph a few head-shots for her.

I’m still smiling from this children shoot, shot over the weekend. Such sweetness from these little sweethearts, I could have photographed all day!
Someone asked me over the weekend, “What does ‘Love Documented’ mean?” This shoot is an excellent example of just that. I document people’s lives in ways that allows for the richness of someone’s life, to simply come out. It’s that richness that I believe is the true essence of our selves, Love! When I see a family, who has loved each other so much, they’ve brought two amazing little girls into their lives, their love is right there in front of them everyday, in two little girls. The parents of these sweethearts were a team. At one point they even helped each other get little bloomers under that sweet cherry dress, one holding her, one putting the pants on. Love! Having a backyard for them to play in, Love! Providing them with the simplest of things for smiles, tickles….Love! To turn around and see one sweetheart basking in the sun with her sunglasses, Love! The satisfaction of licking your first huge sucker, LOVE!
To document this for a client, it’s my true pleasure! And to see images come through that are as vibrant as this family, I am filled with joy!
Thank you for a terrific shoot!

It’s not everyday I walk into a business and feel like I could stay there all day.
Spruce floral shop however is just that type of business!
Spruce is located in South Minneapolis on the corner of Chicago and 48th. When you walk in you are treated to a mixture of vintage potted plants, amazing smells of flowers and candles and eye candy everywhere you look! But the highlight for me, a Flower Bar! So I can sit and make floral arrangements all day with the supervision of Owner Amy! This is just that, Amy’s dream come true!
Amy tells me Spruce is designed to allow you and your friends to book parties to learn how to create inviting floral arrangements for your home, for friends or for just about anywhere you need! You are able to pick out your stems from the walk-in cooler, choose a container and assemble on site. Truly amazing and lovely for any floral enthusiast!
Amy also has beautiful items to adorn your home with including; Pillows handmade by local designer Joynoelle, candles and much more.
Stop by and say hi to Amy, make a floral arrangement and sit back and enjoy the fragrant blooms!

What is The Twins Project?
I started The Twins Project years ago with the birth of my God-Daughters Hailey & Madison. However, it did not take full shape until this last year.
Hailey & Madison

After meeting the beautiful miracle-girls, I realized there are quite a few Twins in my immediate life! My sister-in-law is a twin, a distant relative is a twin and with my God-Daughters, I became motivated to explore this phenomenon photographically.
I have been cursed and blessed at the same time with an overwhelming assault of ideas over the years. Some come to fruition and others do not. I’m sure my family and friends can attest to the array of transitions I’ve gone through over the years, but finally I feel my life’s project has balanced my creative project dedication. As 2010 barreled into my life, I decided to take ahold of this photographic essay on Twins and truly decide to create a grouping of work that’ll come together many years from now.
As I call out to the public for participants with my Twins Project, I’m overwhelmed with the amount of medical and scientific background that’s coming into this artistic, photographic essay. Perhaps it’s my one desire to understand life, to fully become aware of our lives and to also really come to a head with my surroundings. My God-Daughters have taught me one important lesson in their very passionate lives, LIFE IS PRECIOUS and MYSTERIOUS and IMPECCABLE and overall extremely DELICATE. Life alone creates amazing miracles, without the help of science and without the help of forced creations. Twins simply happen, over and over in our lives, without prompting, without force and with only LOVE. The Universe is so interesting and ever so fragile and I notice this now more than ever.
I was completely over the moon to shoot my first formal sitting for my Twins Project. The two girls couldn’t be more different, yet, alike in many. The science between their phenomenal creation comes down to 1 egg and 2 sperm. Giving them a similar look, yet still, so different. I love that science can come to the rescue when telling a story. However it’s life that surprises us with two beautiful women!

If you would like to participate in my Twins Project, I would love to hear from you! Please email me at erica@ericaloeks.com or call at 612.743.2974. I’d love to include you in this beautiful photographic essay on the wonderful world of Twins!
